Corina Erismann

Care Manager

Corina has been a clinical psychologist for more than twenty years. She is also a mindfulness teacher and trainer. She has extensive experience with supporting clients who are struggling with burnout, recurrent depression, grief, and transitions. She also specialises in life and mindfulness coaching, helping clients to skillfully relate to daily life, and guiding them on how to apply what they learnt at New Life back at home.

Corina integrates her clinical training, background in mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), as well as her trauma-informed somatic training, into her work as a counsellor at New Life Portugal. She is a certified group facilitator and deep listening practitioner. Her previous experience includes facilitating supervision and support group sessions for psychologists on the topic of mindfulness-based psychotherapy. She also has many years of experience facilitating individual and group psychotherapy sessions using trauma-informed mindfulness and trauma relief via Somatic Experience®. Additionally, she facilitates retreats, as well as mentoring and practice sessions, for mindfulness teachers.

Corina is the founder of Maitrî Saúde Integrativa, a centre that promotes health and relief from suffering, and which offers clinical psychology services, supervision, and support to healthcare professionals. She also carries out social work based on mindfulness methodologies and the teachings of the Buddha. Corina is a long-term practitioner of mindfulness. She regularly goes on silent retreats and takes development courses on mindfulness and Buddhist psychology. She has firsthand experience in how life-changing the combined work of mindfulness, counselling, and stress reduction can be.

Her main strength is deep compassion, as well as the strong belief that everyone has healing within them. Corina’s compassion is inspiring, bringing joy and spontaneity to the community. She is extremely inclusive and sees the beauty inside everyone’s heart. With years of experience as a trauma and depression survivor, she believes that healing is within all of us – we just need to know how to access it. Helping in this journey is precisely her job.
