Pedro Miguel Faustino

Senior Farmer

Pedro found New Life Portugal during his search for a natural place rich in biodiversity and abundant with water resources. Living in the Serra da Estrela has always been one of his goals. He has lived, studied, and worked in various regions of Portugal and has always felt a special attraction to this mountainous region.

Pedro obtained his degree in Agronomic Engineering at the Escola Superior Agrária de Santarém in 2017. He went on to graduate with a specialisation in Organic Farming from the Escola Superior Agrária de Coimbra in 2020. Pedro chose to specialise in organic farming in order to follow his dreams of growing organic and healthy food in a sustainable way without hurting mother nature.

In 2020, Pedro conducted research in applied microbiology at Aveiro University. In addition to applied microbiology relating to plants and soil, Pedro has experience in healthcare institutions and working with people with physical challenges in organic farming.

His life mottos include working with rather than against nature, and respecting all living things. He also feels that we should never take from nature what we cannot give back, or destroy what we cannot create. One can feel Pedro’s respect for the earth just by being in his presence. His passion for educating people about the importance of soil, environment, fauna and flora, and all their interactions fuels his belief that we can make a difference and change the world. His hobbies are hiking, reading, and activities that involve nature.
