  • Senior Counsellor

    Leading therapeutic and mindfulness-based wellbeing centre is seeking an experienced counsellor for our growing team in Portugal.


    – Your role –

    We are looking for an experienced professional with excellent therapeutic skills to deliver high-quality counseling to meet the needs of our clients and support them to achieve their full potential.

    As part of our counselling team you will participate in community life while maintaining healthy, functional boundaries. As a senior counselling professional, you will preferably live onsite. You will provide a high level of support and stability to the community, and have a flexible, responsive approach to serving the needs of our guests and our programmes.

    Regular supervision and ongoing professional development is a requirement of the role, as well as a flexible responsive approach to providing programme content and articles, as directed in relation to your areas of expertise.

    You will be able to adapt and respond to delivering multiple aspects of our interdisciplinary care model. Preferably you will also be skilled and experienced in a range of counselling specialities, coaching, mindfulness and other integrative care modalities.

     

    – Your responsibilities will include –

    • Individualised counselling and session planning.
    • Prepare for and implement workshops, retreats and activities;
    • Activities for building community and connection.
    • Work collaboratively with an integrative team.

     

    – The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications –

    • Licensed psychologist in Portugal, with master’s degree.
    • Minimum 3 years post qualification experience relevant to the role.
    • Record of continuing professional training and development.
    • Commitment to ethical and clinical code of conduct and best practice.
    • Personal experience in counseling, and a record of continuing supervision.
    • Experience in designing and leading workshops.
    • Maintain professional, confidential and timely notes in client records as per best practice guidelines.
    • Work collaboratively with an integrative team.


    – Preferred –

    • Preferably you will also be skilled and experienced in a range of counselling specialities, coaching, mindfulness and other integrative care modalities. e.g. TRE, Somatic Experiencing, burnout, addiction, depression, anxiety.
    • Experience in trauma-informed resourcing and targeted short-term counselling to a diverse set of clients dealing with various personal issues.


    – In addition the ideal candidate will embody the following competences and qualities –

    • As a New Life Counsellor you are committed to delivering the highest quality of compassionate care, have an integrative view of well-being, and a full understanding of ethical and moral practice.
    • Ability to set short term objectives and use a solution focused approach.
    • The ability to work effectively in teams is a must, as you will be collaborating with management, therapeutic, and marketing teams in each of the different facets of this role.
    • Communicate clearly and effectively, and respectfully.
    • Work with technology at a moderate competency level.

    • You have an adaptive and flexible approach and are curious to develop yourself in a community-oriented environment.
    • A personal interest in mindfulness contemplative practice.
    • A calm presence under stress.
    • Strong sense of integrity, compassion, and empathy.
    • Be highly self-motivated.
    • Enjoy community life, slow living, and connecting with different cultures.


    – What we offer –

    Our centre is located in the Serra Da Estrela National Park, a UNESCO Global Geoparks site and Portugal’s oldest and largest nature conservation area. The property is secluded yet conveniently connected to transport links and amenities.

    You will have access to mountainous treks, hiking trails, and access to the resort facilities, yoga, meditation and other community activities, in consideration of availability outside of New Life guest needs and programming.
