Grief Retreat: Navigating the deep waters of loss and renewal

with Maria João Cunhal & Teresa Ranieri

Introduction

Grief is a natural response to loss, marking the journey through pain and transformation. It can be triggered by the death of someone we hold dear, the end of a significant relationship,  the loss of a job, or any other life-altering event. Grief unfolds as a deeply personal experience, encompassing a wide range of emotions, from the deep sadness and despair to moments of anger and confusion. The experience of such a deep void of absence is a journey unique to each individual, with no set timeline or predictable pattern. Grief reflects the depth of our human connections and the powerful impact that loss can have on our lives. As we navigate through this emotional maze, time, the support and generosity of others become crucial, helping us to find ways to integrate the pain into our stories while creating space for transformation.  It’s a time to honor ourselves and be reconnected with the most precious gift humans have: our permeable hearts.

Retreat Highlights

  • Introduction to grief: what is grief, types of grief and why do we need to acknowledge it
  • Expanded definition of grief
  • Deep exploration of the aspects and cycles of grief, unpack the related concepts which can help us navigate this process
  • Acknowledging our grievances and meeting ourselves from a place of care und embodied understanding
  • A possibility to grieving our losses and our need for connection and belonging
  • Recognising the qualities of those who passed in our lives, contemplate on how their presence played a role in our personal development, and also how we can integrate their being into who we become in the process

Retreat Details

Main benefits

This retreat will offer a space to recognize our losses and process the various types of grief we have experienced over the course of our lives.

Using the compass of the multiple experiences of grief, we will embark on a profound journey of inner discovery.

As we allow ourselves to be sensitive to loss and sorrows, we invite a new perspective, which perceives grief as an intrinsic part of our human condition. Only then will we be again receptive to joy and other nourishing emotions as in fact, paradoxically, nothing can truly be healed and transformed from a place of invulnerability.

We are going to investigate different experiences of grief:

  • The loss of people we cared about and we deeply loved
  • The loss of things and places we loved
  • The pain of what we expected and did not receive
  • The ancestral grief poured into our lives through generations
  • The loss of our unlived dreams

Through powerful reflections,  sharings,  gentle processing and practices of self-care, this retreat will nourish you by planting some seeds of renewal to regenerate and create more balance in your life.

You will benefit from this retreat if:

  • You wish to understand the different forms of grief we all experience throughout our lives
  • You need space to share but also witness your own grief in a safe and confidential container
  • You desire to be resourced to navigate grief skilfully
  • You wish to learn and acknowledge the impact of grief on your emotional, psychological, and physical well-being
  • You sense the need to reframe your understanding of grief, which is a natural response to any kind of loss, and experience a nourishing transition and process of integration
